Little insight…

Both of my parents were writers. I don’t know much about my Dad’s writing, he passed away in 2011. While I was an adult, 28 at the time, I never thought to ask him much about it or himself at all. I think we often forget that our parents are people, separate from us. I know he was a bit of a journalist for some time, but that is all I know. My Mom, she was a story teller and a poet.

I have always kept a journal, ever since I was very young. But sure, no one wants to read what a 13 year old, who hates everything, has to say. Though sometimes I did write poetry, lets be honest, it was probably still very bad.

In 2015, when Jacob and I started attending San Jose Sharks hockey games and later exciting Season Ticket Holder events, and then traveling to see the team at other NHL arenas – I started blogging all of these experiences to share with the world. Partly for others but more for us to have to look back on. Then in 2020, yes there was a Global Pandemic, but also, I suffered a life changing concussion. After some healing I started to journal my experience and began sharing that. I shared this, very personal experience, to shed some light on a scary and often misunderstood invisible injury.

Later, when I was “healed”, I didn’t know where to go. I didn’t have the energy to keep up with the blog because my life had been altered so. I didn’t know what direction to take things. With that, I backed up all my writings and I walked away. But writing is in my bones. Good or bad, it fuels my soul. So I decided to find a way, make the space, good or bad, direction or none – I am just gonna move forward and see where it lands.
