I’ve gone back and forth a bit about how to share our (from my perspective obviously) experience in Japan. I shared some photos to my Instagram stories, but a lot was left out. This was partly because we didn’t have photos, or I didn’t want to share something and disrespect the culture, or I was just focused on enjoying the time. I do want to share, so it was just about “how”. Blog? Why not!? Here we are.
We have travelled to other states and when we do, we often focus on eating things or doing things that are part of the local culture, or specifically hockey related. The only time we have travelled internationally was Canada, and we went with the same mindset as we do when travelling throughout the States. Going to Japan, again, we took a similar but more in-depth approach. We prioritized learning some of the language to get by each day, and learning some of the cultural norms that may be important for foreigners to know. Though we are both have had some (Jacob much more) knowledge of Japanese culture, there was still things to learn. Some stuff you just cant get from the internet, though we did our best.
This was a 2 week trip, full of a lot of sights and food. To share this adventure, I am going to break it down into a few areas. This is partly for you to be able to digest it, and also to give me some small goals to get this all out. Once the sections below are ready, they will be updated with links. I might add or combine along the way.
